Job Description / Duties
The Housing and Ancillary Services team manages 4,940 student beds in 18 residence buildings, as well as off-campus rental apartment and housing properties, three dining halls, numerous retail foodservice locations on campus, the Donald Gordon Hotel and Conference Centre, Event Services and the Enrichment Studies Unit. Residence buildings also provide temporary accommodations for the summer conference, events and tourism markets. Revenue and services from these units support vital student life programs and contribute to the University's learning environment.

The Residence Life and Services staff team is dedicated to the development of the whole student, promoting diversity, accountability, independence and success in a broader learning environment.
This position develops, implements and assesses programs that support the Residence Life Community Development Model, provides programming guidance for Dons, supervises casual student-staff, collaborates regularly with campus and community partners, and manages the virtual and physical Don Resource Rooms. This position encourages a sense of belonging, resilience, and academic success in residence students in collaboration with others in the Residence Life & Services portfolio.
During the academic year (September-April), hours of work, Monday to Friday will be 8:30am-4:30pm for three days of the week, with two day a week where this position is required to work in the evenings from 1pm-9pm, and one weekend eight-hour work shift per month. During the non-academic year (May-August), hours of work will be 8:30am-4:30pm, Monday to Friday.
This position develops and coordinates academic and learning-focused programs and events for students who are living in residence, and are participating in focused programming. This position acts as a point of contact to new students to support them through the initial orientation period in residence, and provides information and interpretation regarding residence policies and procedures. This position also provides recruitment support, as well as feedback, mentorship, and guidance support to Residence Dons.
The schedule for this position requires the incumbent to work evenings and weekends.
What you will do:
Develops and coordinates academic and learning-focused programs and events for students who are living in residence, and are participating in focused programming.
Acts as a point of contact to new students to support them through the initial orientation period in residence.
Develops and updates marketing materials to create awareness for student programs, and events.
Gathers and analyzes residence experience surveys and/or feedback, and makes recommendations for future programming.
Completes administrative tasks including generating reports, preparing general correspondence, and performing recordkeeping and database input.
Coordinates activities involved with recruiting, hiring, scheduling, training, and evaluating Residence Dons.
Provides ongoing feedback, mentorship, guidance, and support to Residence Dons through bi-weekly team meetings, and other one-to-one interactions.
Provides information and interpretation regarding residence policies and procedures.
Confirms and allocates funds within the programming budget.
Other duties as required in the support of the department and/or unit.
Required Education:
Four-Year Bachelor Degree or equivalent.
Required Experience:
More than 3 years and up to and including 5 years of experience.
Previous experience developing and delivering workshops considered an asset. and
Experience in planning and/or managing projects considered an asset. and
Experience working with diverse populations/equity deserving groups considered an asset. and
Familiarity with experiential learning theory considered an asset. and
Experience in writing, interviewing, reviewing, editing and/or proofreading internal and/or external communications and documents considered an asset (e.g., social media, policy manuals, newsletters, handbooks, legal documents, forms/templates, blogs, training/reference materials, technical documents, webinars, etc.).
Required Licenses and Certifications:
Satisfactory Criminal Records Check required.
Vulnerable Sector Screening required.
Consideration may be given to an equivalent combination of education and experience.
