Job Description / Duties

The Residence Life Supervisor is a full-time professional position that delivers programs and services that build community, facilitate learning, and support student wellness. The Residence Supervisor reports to the Associate Director, Student Services and Residence Life, supervises teams of Residence Coordinators and Residence Assistants, and works closely with the Residence Administration Supervisor. The Residence Life Supervisor participates in an after-hours on-call rotation and is provided a furnished on-campus apartment and a meal card.
Contract Term: End date April 30th, 2024
Hours of work: Full-Time (35 hours per week).
Classification/Level: Union, Band 5

What you'll doResponsibilities
Establishes and maintains a positive residence community which supports and encourages academic success, personal growth and development.
Is the first point of contact for Residence Coordinators (RC's), Residence Advisors (RA's), and House Committee members to provide direction, support, and information.
Provides supervision and performance reviews of Residence Life team members and provides ongoing training for Residence Coordinators (RC's), RA's and House Committee members.
Maintains a strong presence within the residence community including attending house functions and events.
Provides opportunities for ongoing orientation and community building initiatives to increase residence student retention.
Coordinates with other university departments/offices as needed, including International, Accessibility, Mental Health, Indigenous, and others.
Works with RC's to ensure that house programming operates at a high quality and consistent level while monitoring the needs of the students in residence.
Is cross-trained to assist and perform the tasks of the Residence Administration Supervisor (RAS), including but not limited to applications, room assignments, financials, etc.
Performs a variety of administrative tasks as needed to ensure all relevant information is properly documented and distributed.
Is available for on-call duties, which includes taking calls from RA's and RC's with questions on protocol, providing assistance in residence, and maintaining a presence in residence as required.
Qualifications / Required Skills
An undergraduate degree.
Leadership experience in a residence environment.
Experience supervising others.
An understanding of and appreciation for how Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion strengthen a community.
Experience with residence programming considered an asset.
Exceptional organization skills and ability to use relevant computer software programs such as Microsoft Office.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Excellent crisis management and intervention skills.
Emergency First Aid and CPR Certification.
Additional Information
Position is provided with a furnished one-bedroom apartment and meal plan allowance per annum.
Salary: $47,576 - $65,586 / year (not including room and board)
