Job Description / Duties

The Opportunity

The Residence Life Facilitator (RLF) supervises the day to day work of a team of Residence Advisors within an assigned area team. The RLF works with the Residence Life Management Team to coordinate the delivery and development of residence life programming conducted by student leaders living and working in residence (ie: Residence Advisors, Academic Links, Graduate Advisors.) This programming includes informational and themed sessions focused on the development of strong residence communities.

The RLF also ensures prompt response to escalated student and resident advisor issues while on site and during on-call rotation.

Qualifications / Required Skills

Qualifications:

Successful completion of a post-secondary degree program or 4 years of specialized training in Student Development Theories and/or Adult Learning Theories
A minimum of two (2) years of experience of living in and coordinating student staff within a residence environment, including event planning for students to ensure a positive sense of community and responding to crisis or students in distress are required.
Demonstrated experience in directly supervising student staff including hiring, training and onboarding and performance management.
Proven facilitation experience in developing and delivering training and reviewing learning outcomes based on community themed activities and workshops (leadership, health and wellness, connecting with campus partners etc.) to the residence population.
Experience in dealing with crisis intervention and life threatening situations.
Experience in handling multiple tasks and taking initiative to create a positive living and learning community for post-secondary students.
Experience managing communities and student behaviour in a 24-hour environment.
Strong interpersonal relationship skills to build partnerships with campus partners with Student Affairs.
Excellent interpersonal skills: tact and diplomacy and sound judgement required when responding to student and staff inquiries and concerns.
Sound experience in the use of computer software programs including MS Office (Excel and Word).
Participate in an On-Call rotation 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. Requirement to live on campus, within residence.
Willingness to work frequent irregular hours including weekends and evenings.

Salary: OPSEU Grade 10 (62,262.26 - 68,035.67 per annum)
