Job Description / Duties
Reporting to the Manager, Academic & Living Learning Communities, the Residence Learning Communities Manager in Training (RLCMiT) will work with the Manager to support the implementation of the academic and living learning program in Student Housing.
The RLCMiT will be part of a dynamic Residence Life Management Team (RLMT) that focuses on the creation of residence environments that promote the development of students’ involvement, connection, well-being, and growth. Specifically, the RLCMiT focuses on students’ academic and personal growth within Academic Learning Communities and Living Learning Communities. Under the guidance of the Manger, responsibilities of the role include providing on-going training, coaching, support, and team development for 20-30 Residence Life Staff; facilitating the delivery of programs, activities, and services; participating in Residence Life team portfolios and project work; and, participating in on-going professional development. Due to the nature of supporting students, student staff, and the programming that makes up a large part of this portfolio, the RLCMiT will be required to work non-traditional work hours as needed (evenings and weekends- approximately 30 hours per week).
The incumbent will participate in professional training to support their success in this role. This training will be on-going throughout the contract period, with the majority taking place during the first few months in the position. Throughout the contract, the RLCMiT will work closely with the Manager to develop and grow their management and coaching skills in order to successfully support a team of staff and students.
Qualifications / Required Skills
Requirements for this live-in position include: Two (2) year Community College program (university degree preferred) and one (1) year of related experience. An equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be considered. Additional requirements include: an understanding of life within a post-secondary institution and student transitional experiences; strong adaptability and prioritization skills; well-developed communication and interpersonal skills; proven critical thinking and problem solving capacity; the ability to effectively collaborate with teammates; strong personal and stress management; diligence; administrative skills; high levels of motivation; a service orientation; and a growth mindset and commitment to continual learning.
Candidates must be able to interact with all levels of the university community. Ideal candidates will have experience working or volunteering with academic support services and competence in utilizing student development and student success research to inform their practice.

Salary: Normal Hiring Range: $45,714 - $ 51,809 The annual salary will be pro-rated to hours worked
