Job Description / Duties
The Residence Coordinators are our live-in, part-time employees who provide support, guidance, and direction for the 100+ residents (and student staff, as applicable). The Residence Coordinators report to the Supervisor of the Residence Life Office and are responsible for identifying and addressing student needs, developing and delivering activities and programming, completing a variety of administrative tasks, and as applicable, supervising student staff. The Residence Coordinators are expected to demonstrate a commitment to the work and mandate of the Residence Life Office by fostering academic achievement, individual student development, and community-mindedness, as well as being positive role models for young adults. The Residence Coordinators are in a position of trust and must exercise sound judgment, possess exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, and be capable of working collaboratively with the residents, other members of the university community. The work of the Residence Coordinators is almost exclusively carried out during the evenings and weekends. Residence Coordinators are subject to supporting duties at another of Memorial’s residences depending on schedule and demand.
Qualifications / Required Skills
An undergraduate degree (preferably in education, social sciences, or human services) or equivalent experience is required. The ideal candidate will have experience with crisis response, conflict/issue resolution and emergency management along with excellent communication and good judgement under pressure. The ideal candidate would have experience living and/or working on a university or college campus. Experience in supervising or mentoring students and/or the development and delivery of educational programming for a young adult population would be considered an asset. A Police Records Check with a Vulnerable Sector Query, from the local police authority will be required.

Salary: $1,500 per semester plus accommodations and some amenities
The Residence Life Office is responsible for the educational and social aspects of life in Memorial University’s residences. Home to approximately 2000 students, Paton College, Macpherson College and Burton’s Pond apartments are more than just a convenient place for our students to live; they are a dynamic and diverse community wherein our students are given the opportunity to thrive and develop inside and outside of the classroom. Paton College was rebuilt and renovated in 2015 and offers a home to primarily to students who are in their first year of studies or away from home for the first time along with returning students. Paton College also offers Living Learning Communities: areas within residence where students with similar interests or academic programs live together on the same floor or area in residence. Opened in 2014, Macpherson College has two wings, each home to approximately 250 students, commonly balanced of both first year and returning independent students in their second year and beyond. Rooms are suite-style with private bedrooms and semi-private washrooms. Burton’s Pond offers apartment style living to senior students, graduate students and family within an independent living community.
