In this role you will be strongly focusing on people leadership, continuous quality improvement, strategic planning, financial management of assets and standard operating policy development. This position is the lead subject matter expert in Property Management and is the senior advisor to senior management within the University in the areas of Custodial, Grounds, Preventative and Corrective Maintenance, Fleet Operations, Waste Management and Recycling programs, Pest Management.
To be considered for this opportunity, you will bring the following:
Professional designation such as Professional Engineer or equivalent experience. RPA and or CPM certification is an asset. MBA or Master's in a related field is preferred. Project Management Professional (PMP) designation preferred. Expert knowledge of building operating systems, building construction, maintenance activities is required. Detailed understanding of building infrastructure, utilities, mechanical, electrical, central district heating and cooling systems is required. Expertise in custodial and grounds management services, and fleet management. Minimum ten years of practical and strong leadership experience working in a unionized environment overseeing property management staff, including maintenance and licensed trades’ staff or contractors, facilities and resource management. Direct experience in leading transformational change with an increased emphasis on service excellence, continuous quality improvement, safety and sustainability. Direct experience in managing within unionized settings as well as experience working with joint health and safety committees. Experience in leading teams in corrective and preventative maintenance, facilities and resource management. Property management experience within an institutional setting, preferably of a post-secondary education nature is required.

Beginning with the May 1, 2020 to April 30, 2021 performance cycle, permanent York University employees in salary grades D through J are eligible for a performance dependent annual Merit Incentive Award as part of total compensation.
