Job Description / Duties
Reporting to the Manager, Student Rights & Responsibilities Office (SRRO), the Case Manager provides administrative leadership to the Care Team, manages cases referred to the Care Team, and completes a number of data management and reporting functions. The Care Team is a multidisciplinary team (7+ members) which includes Safety & Security, Counselling, Residence and Senior Leaders at the College. The team uses a structured and objective process of assessing individual student needs and providing coordinated interventions to students experiencing barriers and/or demonstrating worrisome behaviour. The Case Manger provides case management and risk assessment for all aspects of Care Team cases, including at-risk behaviour, hospitalizations, prolonged absences, health & mental wellness, homelessness, poverty, abuse, and lack of basic needs.
The Case Manager is also a member of the Student Rights and Responsibilities portfolio includes two pre-existing components that naturally collaborate. These components include the Care Team and the Student Rights and Responsibilities team. The Case Manager will also work closely with the Sexual and Gender Based Violence Response and Support Coordinator and other members of the Student Affairs team.
Qualifications / Required Skills
• Master’s degree in student affairs, education, social work, or related field required
• Minimum of three years’ professional experience in a student conduct or case management role within a postsecondary education or closely related setting
• Knowledge of current best practices, trends and issues related to student development, students at risk, and case coordination
• Affiliation and certification with Higher Education Case Managers Association (HECMA), National Behavioral Intervention Team Association (NaBITA), and/or Canadian Association of College and University Student Services (CACUSS) an asset
• Demonstrated experiencing building and fostering relationships with students, colleagues, and departments
• SIVRA-35 or other threat assessment tools
• NaBITA Care Team Best Practices Training
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience with crisis de-escalation and high-risk situations
• Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, including tact and diplomacy
• Advanced active listening skills
• Ability to foster student self-agency through use of motivational interview skills, and awareness of self-efficacy and growth mindset techniques
• Ability to think critically and solve problems, as well as handle a dynamic case load of students
• Good judgment and ability to handle confidential/sensitive information with discretion
• Experience working as part of case coordination team and experience navigating complex student situations
• Demonstrated knowledge of online student tracking systems and database management
• Strong facilitation, presentation, and training skills
• Certification in Mental Health First Aid, safeTALK, and ASIST
• Demonstrated organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to coordinate multiple projects/priorities

Salary: Salary Range: $76,753 - $95,941 37.5 hours/week
