Job Description / Duties
Reporting to the Manager Building Operations, the Assistant Manager, Maintenance Operations is responsible for the day to day maintenance, repair, and minor renovation for all interior and exterior residence buildings located on the Keele Campus covering 14 buildings and approximately 1.2 million square feet of space. This position is responsible for referral and follow up of maintenance and renovation services coordinated through Facilities Services, for Undergraduate Residences and York Apartments. This position- plans, allocates, and refers the necessary operational resources to ensure Housing delivers on its objectives to provide well maintained, functional and safe residential facilities that support a positive living environment for students. The Undergraduate Residences are comprised of eight residence buildings consisting of 2,250 bed spaces, common facilities, and 63 self-contained staff suites. The York Apartments consist of 1,300 self-contained bachelor, 1 & 2-bedroom units. This position is responsible for inventory maintenance and secure storage and distribution of maintenance supplies and equipment, and for maintaining access control procedures for the residence buildings. The Assistant Manager, Maintenance Operations is committed to responsive, consistent and pro-active service delivery to students within a 24/7 living environment which includes the effective coordination and communication of daily planned and unplanned activities in adherence to all applicable legislation under the Residential Tenancies Act, while ensuring minimal disruption to building occupants.
Qualifications / Required Skills
To be considered for this opportunity, you will bring the following:
High school graduation diploma required. Completion of Building Environmental Systems Operator certificates, Facility Manager certificate or equivalent is required. Completion of community college courses in a related field such as business, supervision, property management is preferred., Class 'G' driver's license in good standing required.
Minimum five (5) years recent and directly related supervisory experience in maintenance or facilities services environment, preferably in a university student residential setting, including a minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience in a unionized environment is required. Budget experience is an asset.
