Job Description / Duties

The University of New Brunswick Fredericton welcomes applications for the position of Residence Life Coordinator with Student Services: Residence Life. This is a 3-year term, full-time (36.25 hours per week) position with a salary range of $46,061 - $57,573 per annum.

The Residence Life Coordinator (RLC) is responsible for leadership development and training, student developmental programming and services, and administration of community standards, guidelines, and policies. RLCs assist in all areas, but portfolios will allow for a particular RLC to take the lead in a certain area, such as training.

Position summary:
Recruit, hire, train, and supervise Residence Assistants.
Design and implement all residence student leadership training programs.
Mentor Residence Assistants with all in-house issues, including conduct, programming, and student support.
Remain current with and share emerging developments, trends, and technologies relevant to post-secondary student development theory and residence life, support, and programming.
Initiate policy and procedures revisions and changes to meet changing needs.
Manage the smooth transition of operations between student residence and the conference operations.
Assist the Director, Residence Life in updating Residence Life documents.
Coordinate the compilation of annual surveys and reviews.
Monitor and track all residence student conduct and support issues.
Contribute to the development, implementation, and evaluation of the developmentally focused programs.
Assist in maintaining and implementing the Residence Community Development Plan.
Oversee and provide guidance for houses with respect to proctor programming and house funds.
Plan and coordinate the Residence Life recognition events.
Support the Student Events Review Committee in their approval of residence student events.
Take part in the on-call rotation being available by telephone outside of office hours each day to support on-campus staff in urgent/emergency situations.
Help co-ordinate the response to emergency or crisis situations on campus as directed by senior staff.
Identify requirements and undertake training as necessary for crisis situations.

Qualifications / Required Skills


Requirements/Skills:

Undergraduate degree in a related field, along with 3+ years of related leadership experience.
Demonstrated mastery in the following areas: crisis Intervention, event planning, and risk management, development and implementation of student/client-centric programming and services.
Exceptional communication, consensus-building, and negotiation skills.
Exceptional written communication skills.
Empathetic listening skills for students and supporters in stressful situations.
Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Extensive knowledge of student support trends and best practices.
Ability to successfully perceive, navigate and respond appropriately to sensitive issues.
