Job Description / Duties
Reporting to the Director of Student Services and Residence Life, the Assistant Director, Residence Life (ADRL) is responsible for the overall direction and operations of the Residence Life Program and assists with general leadership responsibilities related to the Student Services and Residence Life department at St. Thomas. Leadership of the Residence Life program includes establishing and maintaining a positive residence community, which supports and encourages academic success, personal growth and community development. The ADRL has 2 full-time direct reports, 1 shared support person, and roughly 30 indirect student staff reports.
This position is also responsible for playing a leadership role in campus student life, including serving as the primary liaison with the campus food services provider. The ADRL assists the Director on initiatives related to harm reduction, student conduct, and at-risk behaviour. This is a mid-level leadership role with significant attention to strategic planning, staff management, and crisis response. The ADRL regularly liaises with a number of on and off-campus groups, playing a key role in shaping the student experience at St. Thomas.
