Add to Your Knowledge: Global Housing Operations Conference -- admin | January 13, 2012
I received this email from a colleague in the UK and wanted to share this professional development opportunity with you, the OACUHO membership.
Phil Andrews, Operations Manager at the University of East London, shares the following information about the upcoming Association for Student Residential Accommodation (ASRA) conference, being held April 1-4, 2012 at The University of Warwick in Coventry, England.
ASRA is the National Association for Student Accommodation in the UK and Ireland, and we have increasingly been attracting international participation over the last few years from countries all over the world from as far afield as North America, Australia, China and of course, Europe. Feedback from international participants has been extremely positive and we are aware of active recommendations for those to attend our conference in future years.
They find it particularly useful to experience the UK student experience, network with UK & Irish Colleagues as well as those from around the world and exchange ideas and knowledge from worldwide student accommodation and emerging operational patterns across the Futher & Higher Education sectors worldwide - especially relevant in this age of increased student mobility. Our "home" members also find it useful to interact with colleagues from around the world and develop new networks and partnerships this way. So too, our exhibition attracts businesses from USA, Canada, Australia and South Africa as well as the UK & Ireland. In general, our conference attracts people at all levels from Pro-Vice Chancellor (Vice-Rector or Vice-President in some education systems) to Directors to Managers and some frontline workers.
In terms of scale, we attract around 350-400 accommodation professionals and around 50+ exhibitors per annum.
I am writing to invite you to our conference at the University of Warwick this coming April 1st to 4th. International delegates can register via the attached forms as per domestic registrations. Many international delegates have also taken the opportunity to enjoy a small study tour here in the UK taking in a number of Universities according to your specific areas of interest. If you wish to do this I would be quite happy to work with you to set this up as we have done with previous international delegates. Please get in contact with me directly on p.andrews@uel.ac.uk
Please see the link to the Programme along with a Word version of the registration form for ease of return via e-mail. Please return directly to our Conference Partners, Sovereign Conferences at association@sovereignconference.co.uk - although if you have any questions on the conference itself please direct them to myself on p.andrews@uel.ac.uk
There are around 19 training sessions to choose from. New for this year, we have included a Pre-Conference Seminar on the Sunday, the "ASRA World Café" adding value to those taking the full conference package. This session is detailed further on the attached programme and will allow both networking and knowledge exchange opportunities on the Sunday.
If you have any questions about any element of the conference please do not hesitate to contact me or alternatively colleagues at Sovereign Conference.
Kind Regards,
Phil Andrews

If you are interested in pursuing this incredible opportunity, please email me (kakinsel@flemingc.on.ca) Phil sent me many more details about the conference and the surrounding area, and I am happy to send that along to you. It would be truly beneficial for a Canadian Housing Officer to attend this conference, and share their knowledge upon their return. I hope you will consider this opportunity.
